River Community Church in Red Bluff was planted in the Spring of 2014 by Neighborhood Church of Anderson and Cottonwood. Nat Porter and Mark Roberts were the original planters and they had a vision for a new church in Red Bluff; a church where the gospel of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed, lives would be changed, and people would be brought into a new family...the family of God. It would be a community of followers of Jesus who would pursue the joy of God for the glory of God! The church started out with a handful of people who embraced their vision, and worked hard to make it so.
Today, the church is led by Nat Porter and Rich Titus. We continue to embrace the vision of proclaiming the Gospel in such a way that destinies are changed, joy in Jesus is shared, and God is glorified through it all! We possess a strong passion for being a light in our city; a light shines on the Kingdom of God, inviting all who would to enter.
our Ministry Staff:
Nathaniel Porter is one of the founding pastors of River Community Church. He is passionate about helping people discover real joy in Jesus and love God as their greatest treasure. In addition to preaching regularly and providing pastoral care, he also oversees the RCC Community Groups ministry.
Nathaniel graduated from Simpson University with a degree in Biblical Studies and Global Mission. He and his wife Brenda, along with their 3 children, spent 10 years church-planting in Tajikistan, Central Asia. Upon returning to the U.S. he completed a graduate level Vocational Elder Training Program at The Bethlehem Institute under John Piper (now Bethlehem College & Seminary). Beginning in 2013, he co-led the church planting team that established River Community Church in Red Bluff.
Nathaniel and Brenda love reading great books together, camping with family on the California coast, and making occasional forays in the Pac Northwest where he grew up. Brenda, also known as “Dori the Clown,” has a unique love for children with special needs and is also a face painter and balloon twister extraordinaire.
Rich Titus is one of our pastor/elders at River Community Church. He co-leads the youth ministry, preaches regularly, and occasionally leads the Sunday gatherings in worship through music.
Rich grew up in the rural area of Calaveras County where his dad managed a large cattle ranch near Angels Camp, CA. He graduated from Bret Harte High School and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from the California State University at Fresno. He taught high school agriculture science for 14 years before entering full time youth ministry in Anderson, California. During that time he completed a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from National University.
Today, Rich and his wife Jackie live in the nearby community of Gerber where, in their spare time, they raise Angus and Simangus cattle, as well as Boer goats. Rich and Jackie both have a passion for church planting and sharing the gospel with the youth of their community,
Aaron Peterson is the worship leader at River Community Church, organizing the team and leading the worship through song on most Sunday mornings. He also co-leads the youth ministry and has hosted and led community groups.
Aaron was born and raised in Tehama County. He obtained an associate's degree from Shasta College before receiving his bachelor's of degree in Discipleship and Education Ministries from Simpson University. Aaron went on to earn a multiple subjects teaching credential and master's degree in Education from Simpson University. Aaron teaches locally at an independent study charter school. He also spends time as the bassist and accompanying vocalist with the Red Bluff-based Christian alternative-rock band "Flagship Armada".
Aaron lives in Red Bluff with his wife, Anneliese, and their four children. Aaron and Anneliese are dedicated to encouraging their family, friends, and community to know Christ more in their lives. They desire to help direct people, from wherever they currently stand, in their relationship with God and onto the next steps of discipleship.
Amy Grove is the Women’s Ministry Leader at River Community Church. She leads a team of two other ladies in organizing all of the women-focused events and activities throughout the year.
Amy grew up in a Christian home in both Humboldt and Shasta Counties, but has called Red Bluff home since 2007. She is a wife to an engineering consultant, a soccer mom to two beautiful school-aged children, and a successful full-time banker in Redding, CA. Together with her family, she enjoys camping, reading and taking the boat out on a summer afternoon.
Amy’s passion for the women of RCC is focused on cultivating a close-knit community where women can lean on one another, encouraging each other through Christ-centered relationships. Her favorite time is spent one-on-one, building lasting friendships over a cup of coffee.
Rachel Perez coordinates our Children’s Discipleship Team, which includes an amazing group of teachers that lead our River Community Kids classes.
Rachel grew up in coastal and central California and attended college at Azusa Pacific University and Humboldt State University before settling in Red Bluff and getting married to Mateo in 2005. She graduated from Chico State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She went on to work in the state preschool program for five years before leaving the workforce to raise her three children.
Today, Rachel is homeschooling her two youngest children and enjoys being involved as a family in many facets of River Community Church. They lead a community group in their home and Rachel hosts a mom’s bible study called "Sweet Peas and Mommies" as well. Whatever event is going on, you can be sure, there will be a surplus of children there!
